Jacque Joanne Becerra

Jacque Joanne Becerra, the matriarch of her family, was born into eternity on August 9, 2011 after a battle with cancer. She was 62 years old.

Jacque was born into time on September 15, 1949 in Santa Rosa, California to Dolph and Nadine Harris. She married Jesse Becerra and, together, they settled in Nevada where they raised their children, and were given the gift of grandchildren. Family was the focus and joy of Jacque's ife. While she enjoyed writing, gardening, needle work, a good book, poetry and trying new recipes, family was always central in all that she did.

"My mother was a loving and nurturing woman," said her daughter Eva. "She was always there for me, and my daughters. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother."

"I admired my mother's spirituality," said her daughter Michele. "She was so devoted to her bible studies, and cherished the wisdom and strength her faith brought her. "

Jacque was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jesse and her brother, James Harris. Her survivors include daughters Michele and Eva Becerra, her sons Jesse, Frank and Tony Becerra, her granddaughters Johna and Samantha "Samee" Becerra, and her sister, Gayle Perlo.

"Jacque called it the 'loveliness of simplicity'," said her sister Gayle. "My sister knew the value in a moment, and life's little pleasures. In a poem my sister wrote, 'I like frills and lace and downy comfort, a fluttering butterfly, the smell of fresh mown lawn, children's laughter, a sunrise in early fall and the ocean in spring.' That was my sister. She was special."

The family would like to thank the oncology staff and Hospice workers at Saint Mary's Hospital in Reno, who provided help, care and guidance through a very difficult time. The family would also like to thank Pastor Denise Cordova and the members of the Lite of Soul Church in Reno for their kindness and prayers. The family will also be forever grateful to Kristine, Jenny and Becky at the Sierra Regional Center for their compassion and assistance.

A memorial and tribute to Jacque's life will be celebrated on August 27, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Indian Colony located at 34 Reservation Road in Reno.
