Jamie Anderson Obituary
Reno - Jamie Therese Anderson, age 67, entered into eternal rest while at home in Reno, Nev. on November 27, 2018. Jamie was born in Somerville, N.J. on April 26, 1951, to James and Rose Lavenia and was the youngest of three children. With an innate love of learning, Jamie soared through school pursuing her passion for medicine by earning her nursing degree from Saint Louis University followed by her master's degree from San Jose State University. While working as a nurse at Stanford Medical Center, Jamie met a special patient who turned out to be the love of her life, Daniel Anderson. They were married in 1977 and lived in San Jose, Calif. where they raised their two daughters, Katherine and Margaret.
In 1986, the family moved to Reno after Jamie accepted a job at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. During her career there, Jamie finished her second master's degree in public health and was known for making regular road trips to nearly every town in rural Nevada.
Jamie will be remembered in many ways, notably for her infectious laugh, generous spirit, and love of all things Disney. Jamie is survived by her children, Maggie and Katie (Ronnie), brother, Charles (Yvonne), sister Mary, three grandchildren, extended family, and a host of dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, Catholic Parish with a reception to follow and a private burial ceremony. Memorial donations can be made in Jamie's name to Northern Nevada HOPES.

Jamie rented from me for several years. She was a wonderful person, mother and grand mother. Jamie was very well liked within the medical community her in Reno and very caring person. I feel fortunate to have met her and having the opportunity to get to know her.

Jaime,
You were the heart of soul of rural education during my time at the med school, and truthfully, well beyond my few years there. It was a pleasure to know you professionally and to know you personally after you retired. I enjoyed your company and your passion for all things Disney. I am glad we could spend some time together in mid-November.

Jamie, I learned of your passing with a heavy heart. My condolences to your family, Maggie and Katie, I'm SO sorry. Jamie was responsible for hiring me at the School of Medicine 17 years ago. I can not tell you the profound opportunity her decision opened up for me on my journey. Jamie, You offered me a position when I needed it most, encouraged me to become more and inspired me to become a healthcare professional. I will miss your amazing laugh and your counsel. I know you touched the hearts of thousands and aided in providing our state with caring physicians. You will be missed.
