Joseph Jacques Obituary

Joseph Boyce Jacques, D.D.S., M.S.

Joseph "Boyce" Jacques, born September 24, 1926, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014, with Pat, his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, by his side. Boyce was born to the late Charles and La Rue Jacques in Whittier, California. After graduating from North Hollywood High School, he attended USC, graduating from dental school with a DDS degree and later a Masters degree in orthodontics. Boyce was a member of the US Navy, served with the 1st Marine Division in Korea, and later as a Lieutenant in the Dental Corps of the US Naval Reserves.

From 1954-1962 he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. In 1965, Dr. Jacques moved to Reno where he had a thriving orthodontic practice until retiring in 1993. Boyce had a natural talent for running, which he loved to do. He was a track star in high school, which led to a track scholarship to USC, and a lifetime of achievements in running. In 1996, at the age of 59, he set a world record in his age group for the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:32.20.

Boyce also had a passion for hunting, for which he had numerous game trophies from Africa, Canada, and the United States. His most prized hunting achievement was "The Grand Slam of the North American Mountain Sheep." Boyce is preceded in death by his two brothers, Don and Charles Jacques. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pat, daughter, Annette (Randy) Williamson, son, Bruce (Leslie) Jacques, step-daughter, Sheri (Mark)Vinci Colaluca, step-son Mike Vinci, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A private service, under the direction of the NNVC Honor Guard, will be held at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Friday, September 5th. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, which would have been their 35th wedding anniversary. For details please contact Sheri Colaluca at: [email protected] . I remember Dr. Jacques very well. He did most of my childhood orthodontics
while under the direction of Dr. Ricciardi on W. 5th St. in Reno. I was
around 12 yrs.old, and told him jokes while he worked on my teeth. He often
laughed so much he had to stop what he was doing! It was great. He was a very
nice man, and did a good job on my teeth.
