Lori "Grannie" Silk went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25th. Born Loralee Ann Krechter on August 16th¸1935, she was the widow of Henry Shaneyfelt, then Steve Silk. Lori, a native of North Hollywood, CA., was a fun loving, stylish lady who enjoyed singing, square dancing, puzzles, traveling, reading, and laughing uncontrollably with friends and family; there was no one she couldn't make smile with her joyful out-going personality. As an employee at Lockheed she was proud of having worked on the Stealth Fighter (F117). Moving to Nevada in 1989, Lori was a member of DAR (John C. Fremont Chapter) and the Silver State Model T Club. Lori was a parishioner of St. Gall's Catholic Church as a reader and choir member in earlier days, and later helped wherever needed. She was also awarded for her service to the community as a senior volunteer, and worked at the local Food Closet. A memorial service was held at St Gall's, on June 28th. She is survived by sister Kathie (Krechter) Kok, children Jan (Dan) Peyton, Barbie Shaneyfelt, Debbie (Rick) Kane, Terry (Chris) Shane, step-daughters Stephanie (Brett) Durrett, Judy (John) Franks, nephews David (Leah) King, Darin (Christina) King and several grandchildren. Lori will be missed greatly by those of us who knew and loved her.
