Michael Forte Obituary
After a long battle with cancer, Michael Richard Forte, Jr. died on October 15, 2015 at his home in Reno, Nevada at the age of 52.
Michael was born on April 27, 1963 in Bridgeport, CT, to Michael Forte, Sr. and Charlotte Forte. He grew up in a large, loving family with three sisters in Reno, NV. He graduated from Reed High School in 1981 and enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Military for 4 years before embarking on his career in the Food Industry.
Michael married Dana on February 9, 1995 and they have two children, Tyler and Taylor Forte. Michael once described his best accomplishment in life was becoming a father. He loved coaching and being involved in his childrens sports and activities.
Michael was a driven professional and quickly developed a passion working in the food industry in the Reno-Sparks community. He was coowner of C&M Food Distributing, Inc. in Reno, Nevada for the past 27 years and was very involved in the community and supported the Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army, Feed the Hungry and participated in high school events. He was very dedicated to his work throughout his cancer treatments and remained a proud and brave man in the final months.
Michael is survived by his wife, Dana and children, Tyler and Taylor; his mother, Charlotte Forte; sisters, Michele and Jacque Forte, and Denise Forte Ghiglia; numerous nieces and nephews and relatives in Connecticut.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice Care for their attentive treatment. Services will be held at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church on Saturday October 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The National Cancer Society.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mike or Dana, but my daughter, Brenda and her ex-husband Aaron knew them. We were given their 10 month old Dachshund, Luke. Luke has been the best dog I have ever had. He is now going to be 14 yrs old this Friday. He was the greatest gift we ever received. My heart goes out to the Forte family during this very difficult time, and my prayers too.

I knew Mike in high school. He developed into a remarkable man. I am currently walking a 500 mile pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. My walk from Portomarin to Palas de Rei will be in honor of and in dedication to Mike.

Mikey, words can't describe the impact of yout friendship had on me. The true bond of our friendship and our shared love of all things sport and just being able to talk to you about anything is something I'll always remember. We met Mike and Dana through our sons participation in high school football. They were the family that did it all -from running the snack bar to catering the food for fund raisers. We are so sorry to learn of Mike's illness. I know his passing will leave a huge void in the community. Our deepest condolences to the Forte family.
