Mildred Farrell Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth Farrell

Reno - March 30,1924 -July 3, 2021

Millie passed away peacefully at Renown hospital after a brief illness. She was 97 years old. Born at home in New York City, Millie enjoyed a childhood filled with nickel movie shows, ten cent ice cream, penny candy and long visits with friends on the front stoop. When she met her future husband Eddie Farrell they loved dancing to the big bands and going on picnics riding in a rumble seat. They married July 19, 1944 just before Eddie shipped out with the Navy Pacific fleet in WWII.

Millie was a woman of deep faith, fun loving and had that New York sense of humor. She was generous, loving, and compassionate. Millie and Eddie moved to Reno in the mid 1990's. They enjoyed a comfortable and quiet lifestyle, unless one of their sports teams were playing then nothing was quiet.

Millie moved to 5 Star Premier Residence in Reno after her husband Eddie passed. Here she was instrumental in getting a lighted flagpole installed and presenting a new flag each year with a flag raising ceremony. Lunches with the Red Hat Ladies, puzzles, bingo, old films, and reading were favorite pastimes for Millie.

Family was always most important to Millie. She recognized each family member on their special occasions with a card, gift, phone call, or letter.

Millie will be missed by family and friends alike.

Millie was predeceased by her parents John and Anna Tokach, husband Edward James Farrell, son Edward Francis Farrell, and daughter Anne Farrell.

Millie is survived by older sister Florence Holzman of Florida and younger brother John Tokach of San Diego. Also sons Gordon Farrell (Suzanne) of Seattle and James Farrell of New York and daughters Arleen O' Connell (Robert) and Nancy Fierro both of New York, Grandchildren Madison, Maranda, Gregory, James V. Farrell, Alexa, Joseph, Melissa, and great grandson, Cameron and niece Carol (Ted) Moore of Reno and additional nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will take place Tuesday July 13, 2021 at Saint Therese Church of the Little Flower 875 Plumb Lane Reno at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.

Memorial donations may be made to CampCare, Po Box 12155, Reno, Nevada 89510-2155.

Millie was a true favorite friend of my Mom, Jean Houston. Many afternoons and evenings having the time of their lives and much fun together at Five Star. She was such a delight to all. My condolences to your family.
