Nell Woods Obituary

Nell S. ("Dottie") Woods

March 22, 2016

Just three weeks shy of her 94th birthday, Dottie Woods quietly passed away at her Granite Bay CA. home. She can now finally join her mother and sisters in eternal love and companionship.

Nell Shipman Woods was born April 11, 1922, in Red Wing Minnesota. She and the girls moved out to California in 1946, living for a time in Sacramento before settling in Menlo Park, CA. There she worked for Pacific Bell for over 30 years, retiring in 1981 to care for their elderly mother. Dottie never married. In 1991 she and her sisters moved to Reno, then they all moved again to Granite Bay in 2002. Dottie's greatest happiness came from living close to her family.

Nell Woods was predeceased by her parents and by her sisters Julia Laub, Marguerite Bingham and Marilyn Woods, and beloved brother-in-law, Rodman Bingham. She is survived by her niece, Patrice Bingham Offenhauser, of Granite Bay and grand-nephew, Joseph Offenhauser, of Sacramento.

Nell Woods will be interred alongside her family at Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alto. Memorial contributions may be made to the Placer SPCA, from whom Dottie adopted her cherished feline companion, "Callie." (placerspca.org)
