Owen Spencer Siamundo

October 21, 2006

July 5, 2015

On July 5, 2015, a sweet angel of a boy, Owen Spencer Siamundo, was taken too soon as a result of a tragic car accident. Surrounded by his courageous family, Owen passed peacefully just 3 1/2 months shy of his ninth birthday and has left an enormous network of extended family and friends mourning his unexpected departure.

Born on October 21, 2006, Owen had just completed the second grade at Westergard Elementary School in Reno, NV where his teachers bragged about his inquisitive nature, excellent manners and early study habits. With top marks and a quick wit, his mind was as sharp as his muscles.

A sports fan through and through, Owen was happiest on the diamond and played his heart out for his beloved baseball team, helping lead the Angel's to their championship game just this year. When he wasn't with a bat and ball in his hand, he could be found playing basketball, skiing at Mt. Rose, kicking the soccer ball around or most recently trying his hand at tennis, looking forward to having a match or two against his favorite "Tati" Jeniffer. And come chow time after a big game, Owen's top pick was of course a visit to Wingstop for his favorite garlic parmesan wings and fries with cheese sauce, followed by an Otter Pop to complete the perfect meal.

He will forever be remembered for his big heart, contagious laugh and love of all things green. Always dressed to impress and not a hair out of place...ok, maybe one hair actually in place and the rest subject to the wind. He was notorious for showers so quick that he would still have shampoo in his hair when he got out and mom sent him back in. At home, if he wasn't playing video games with his best friend (and dad), Harold, he was riding scooters with his little sister Grace in the "cool"desac, skateboarding with the neighborhood kids or having a blast on a laser tag date night with his mom Tami. Playing indoors or out with kids older or younger he was kind, patient and fun-loving with them all. And when Mom would bust him sneaking candy or soda from the fridge in the garage with that "what are you doing?" look; he knew he could flash his smile, say "please!?" and she would melt and let him off the hook for the small price of a hug and a kiss.

Owen and family took full advantage of the beautiful outdoors as often as they could with frequent trips to Tahoe's Kings Beach and Truckee's bike park. In town, he also loved to explore the Discovery Museum, go rock climbing with his cousin Nick and spend the evening at the drive-in movie with family and friends. He was able to live life to the fullest and bring the most enjoyment to their trips to Thailand, the Philippines, Hawaii and of course Disneyland and Disneyworld. Although, his annual trip to Seattle to see Uncle Earl & Cousin Isa had become one of his favorites; jumping from the dock, singing and goofing in family jam sessions to his new favorite tunes and just spending quality time with his nearest and dearest. Whatever he did, he gave his all, playing so hard everyday that he would fall fast asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow no matter the hour.

Owen, the son of Tami and Harold Siamundo and big brother to 6-year-old Grace Siamundo, is also survived by doting grandparents: Pam & Cho Injun, Marianne & Freddie Sia, and Boonchai Moolsintong, Aunt and Uncle: Jeniffer & Tony Belancio, Uncles: Earl Siamundo and Shane Injun, Cousins: Nick Belancio and Isabella Siamundo as well as many other extended family members and countless friends.

Always surrounded by those that love him, Owen's love now forever surrounds us all and some he never met. Parents Tami and Harold made the amazing decision to donate his organs so that the unconditional love he shared with those close to him, will forever live on in spirit within us. To date, two of his organs have already saved the lives of two young children. A decision that exemplifies why Owen turned out to be the incredible boy with an unforgettable heart to all that met him.

A service for Owen will be held Saturday, July 18th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Snows. 1138 Wright Street, Reno, NV 89509. The family has requested the burial remain private, but a celebration of life will be held later that evening. A fund has been established at youcaring.com under: "Friends of the Siamundo & Belancio Families" for any friends wishing to help.

I fell in love with Owen after substituting for his class just 1 time. He was precious. So kind, hard working and adorable. He thanked me for coming and gave me a great big hug at the end of the day!!!! (unheard of from boys his age these days!!!) I was very much looking forward to running into him again at Westergard. He was one of those sweet, cute, adorable kids that you never forget as a sub.

The Siamundo family has a true GEM of an angle waiting for you up in heaven. Please stay strong and know we are all saddened and praying for you.

God Bless You.

I am devasted by the loss of our sweet little Owen. He was the perfect friend to all and a fabulous student. I loved calling him just O. If he was ever off task I would look at him and say"Oh my Mister O!" and that little smile would instantly disappear and that little head went right back to work. My heart is breaking for your great loss. With my deepest sympathy, Karin rich

I am Shawna's uncle, & I saw on her Facebook of your loss.
I too just wish somehow that I could take away the pain. The loss of a child has to be the worst pain that anyone can go through. But be assured you will be reunited someday. He is just waiting for you.
What a Beautiful young man!

I, too, have recently gone through the heart-breaking experience of saying goodbye to a loved one as he passed from this mortal life to eternal life with Our Heavenly Father. Your Owen blessed the lives of many and also saved the lives of others, due to your family's loving decision to share him through organ donation. I'm praying for your family that God will comfort and bless you. Love and Peace to you.
