Phylis Minor Obituary

Phylis Ann Minor passed away peacefully on Monday, September 27, 2010 with her loving family at her side. She was born October 4, 1930 in Rochelle, Illinois and was raised in Huntington, Indiana. After graduation from Huntington High School she continued her education at the Ohio State University.
As a young woman, Phylis moved to Nevada from Ohio with her husband, Richard Minor. She immediately embraced the west and has made Reno her home since 1959. She worked for many years as a legal secretary, but always felt that her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful friend and others felt they were blessed by just spending time with her. Phylis had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel with her family. At home she enjoyed reading, crafting, cooking, entertaining and gardening. She will always be remembered by her family and friends for her boundless energy, thoughtfulness, hospitality, and kindness.
Phylis was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Ellen Capehart. She is survived by her four children; Cynthia Ellen Loper and her husband Brian, Karen Sue Ellis, Lisa Ann Minor, and Robert Capehart Minor; three grandchildren; Christopher Edward Ellis, Forrest Richard Shelley, and Brooke Ellen Loper; and her brother and sister-in-law, Max and Shirley Risser of Huntington, Indiana.
Our hearts are full of sorrow as we wait for the time when we will be reunited with our beautiful mother. We find comfort in the knowledge that she will continue to guide and protect us from her heavenly home. Phylis believed in God's love and encouraged everyone to be forgiving and to love one another. She found much comfort reading her Bible and attending Sunday worship.
We would like to thank Dr. Brad Graves and the wonderful nursing staff at Renown Medical Center for the excellent care she received in the intensive care unit. We also extend our thanks to Reverend Ray Daugherty and his wife Sarah for their prayers and kindness during this difficult time.
Friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Masonic Chapel, 437 Stoker Avenue, in Reno. Interment will follow at the Masonic Memorial Gardens.

Much love to all of you- Karen, Cindy, Lisa and Rob. Your mom was such a sweetheart; she always cooked for us, laughed at our stories and welcomed us always in her home. I have such fond memories of my teen years with your family. I am so, so sorry for your loss.
