Robert Fink Obituary

Robert W. Fink

Robert W. Fink transitioned to life after life on April 23, 2013. Robert, 83, passed quickly and unexpectedly from a heart attack. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Norma, and his two sisters Donna Mae and Edith Ann. Robert was born in Springfield, Ohio and relocated to Reno in 1954.

Surviving Robert is his twin sister Alice and his five daughters Marilyn, Darla, Renee', Nanette and Natalie; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Pat Carnel and their son Chris. Robert has eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He met and married his wife, Norma in the Army in 1953 in Yellow Springs, Ohio. They moved back and started their family in Reno, NV. Robert and Norma became greatly involved in raising and breeding dairy goats and started their esteemed registered dairy goat herd called "Springhaven". Robert and Norma were instrumental in starting up the Sun Valley Water Company in 1965-1966.

Robert was very active in his community. He served in the Army and had a Honorary Discharge as a Sergeant. He had over 47 years experience as a Real Estate Broker at his own company and pursued public service supporting orderly community growth and improvement. Robert studied at Ohio State University and UNR majoring in Animal Husbandry. Robert received the Realtor Emeritus award, a prestigious honor accorded to him by the National Association of Realtors. He was a licensed Auctioneer since 1980 from the Missouri Auction School. He was a: Trustee of Sun Valley Water District 1982-1996 and from 1998 to 12/2012; Representative Washoe County Planning Commission 1999-2003; Chairman for the Washoe County Board of Adjustment; Chairman of RTC Citizens Advisory Committee 1985-1991; Past President of the Sun Valley Landowners Association; Charter President of the initial Sun Valley Sertomas; Original member of the Sun Valley Swimming Pool Committee; Chairman of the Realtors Land Institute, State Chapter 41; Accredited Land Consultant from the Realtors Land Institute; Member of the Livestock Committee of the Nevada State Fair; Member of the National Association of Realtors since 1969; Member of the Nevada State Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors; Past Board of Directors of Truck Inn, Fernley, Nevada; Parliamentarian for the National Realtors Land Institute (5 yrs); Political Affairs Committee, Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors; Member of the Joint Coordination Committee for the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility, representing the Sun Valley Water and Sanitation District.

Robert was a very generous and caring man with a big laugh and an even bigger smile. He was often called "The Mayor of Sun Valley" who could be found holding court with his friends and family almost every day, breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner at his favorite dining spot Hobey's Casino. Those who knew Robert said he was a good honest man. He was an even greater father and we will all miss him dearly.

Robert stated more than once that, "The Good Lord has given me a good life". We were honored to be a part of his life.

The Fink family invites friends and well wishers to participate in Robert Fink's Celebration of Life on Saturday June 15th at the Sun Valley Neighborhood Center at 11 am. In honor of Robert's wishes, there will be a free swim day to the community at the Norma G. Fink Sun Valley Swimming Pool. For more information call 775-673-2222.
