Ronald Thoyre Obituary

Ronald Norman Thoyre, Jr.

Reno - 1967 - 2018

Ron, 51, peacefully passed away July 31, 2018 at home in Reno surrounded by loved ones. Ron was born May 24, 1967 at St. Mary's Hospital, Reno, to parents Ronald N Thoyre, Sr. and Victoria Thornton Thoyre.

Ron is survived by his wife Renee; sons Blake and Mason; stepdaughter Ashley Dullum, stepson Sean Africa, father Ron Thoyre, Sr, mother Victoria Sloan, stepfather Tom Sloan, and siblings; Allison Kosturos (Joe), Nate Sloan and Katie Sloan Clack (William); two grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and his dog Chewey.

Ron graduated from Hug High School and attended UNR. He worked twenty years at JC Penny Distribution Center; then working for the City of Reno Public Works for the last ten years.

Ron's pride in his heritage, a fourth generation Nevadan on both his paternal and maternal sides, is obvious in his love of the Nevada outdoors. He spent a great deal of time hunting, fishing, camping and exploring Nevada, most often in the company of his father, Ron Sr. A serious sports enthusiast, Ron especially loved baseball ("The Giants are always good."). He enjoyed great times on bowling and softball teams as well as riding motorcycles with long-time friend Mitch Gallagher. Ron's cancer diagnosis did not stop him from living life; he continued to do the things he enjoyed, worked as much as he could, and never complained about the hand he was dealt. His dignity and strength are an inspiration to those who already miss him.

A memorial service will be held at Living Stones Church, 445 S. Virginia St., Reno. Email [email protected] for details. In lieu of flowers donations in Ron's memory can be made to Nevada Bighorns Unlimited, PO Box 2139, Reno, NV 89515-1393.
