Whitney Lynn Thompson was 20 years old, bright, fun loving and funny, loved by so many. She challenged life and brought typical joy and pain as she grew up into a beautiful young woman. Wings were added to her cock-eyed halo early Tuesday morning.
She was born in Chico, CA, attended Vina Elementary School, and graduated from the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology in Reno in 2009. She was a smiley, happy hostess at Bistro Napa, greeting and seating its clientele.
She is survived by her mother, Jennifer Lynn Thompson (Mitch Fleischer) of Reno, her father, Jake Thompson (Laura) of Vina, CA, and her fiance, John Hume. Her Reno grandparents are Susan Lynn and Randy and Vicky Lynn. She also has a loving extended family and a "whole gaggle" of friends.
Her tattoo may have said it best: Per Augusta Ad Augusta or Through Trial to Triumph.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, July 10 at 3 PM at Galena Park. Take the second entrance to the park and proceed to the Manzanita Group Area off the Mt. Rose Highway. Friends and family are invited to bring and share their stories and photos of Whitney.
Because of Whitney's love of animals, the family suggests instead of flowers or gifts, that charitable donations be made to the SPCA, 4950 Spectrum Blvd., Reno, NV 89506, in memory of Whitney.

Whitney, we didn't know you all that well but we enjoyed seeing and laughing with you on Saturday nights at Bistro Napa where you worked. We shared the love of animals, so hopefully you are watching over them now as you can in heaven. Rest in Peace sweety, you will be missed.

I would love to make it to the service, unfortunately I did not have enough time to get the time off. Not for one second though, do I no think of you or the great memories we had, never will I forget. I still can't fully accept the fact that this has happened. Jennifer and Jake, there are no words that can express the depth of sorrow of Whitneys passing. But what I can say is how full of life she was and how everyone she touched loved her. She could put a smile on your face no matter what. I will miss her.

Hey whitney. i always like to believe that the ones who beat us to heaven are watching us and may even be right next to us.. you have always been a beautiful little lady and brought so much happiness, smiles and laughs everywhere you went. i remember wondering how you got your hair to have such a big pomp haha... you are a valuable treasure in our hearts, your friends and family, and even those who hear about this accident. i count each day as a blessing, because i, being your age, take it forgranted. i love you and miss you a lot. it seriously brings a tear to my eye knowing i wont see a response on my email or an answered phone call. but youre alive in my heart baby girl.

I dont even know where to start....theres wasnt a time i was with whitney that i dont cherish. So many memories. Starting years back when she lived here in cali. Oh Miss Whitney, Queen of the world.. I loved how you could walk in a room full of people and hold the attention. I will forever miss Whitney. She was not only an inspiration to a leader, but I also saw her be an inspiration to other young girls who lived in some troubled times. My thoughts & prayers are with Whitney's family & friends. I never met Whitney, but she looks so lovely-- keep these memories of her. My son is 20, & he said he had met Whitney a few times, & was so saddened at her passing.
