COLONNA

William ”Bill” Colonna, 45, went home to be with the Lord on December 20, 2007. Bill was born February 6, 1962, to Nicholas and Barbara Colonna in New York City. Bill had previously lived in New York and Florida moving to Nevada at the age of 15. He graduated from Wooster High School, and had worked as a disc jockey in Louisiana, Georgia and in Reno for K-Bull. During his short lifetime, Bill was awarded an “Addie“ in radio broadcasting and earned a Bachelors Degree in ministry.

Bill was best known as Chaplain to the Carson City Sheriff's Office. Since 2000, he became the deputies Pastor. He was always available for them. He touched those that needed counseling either in the department or civilians he met in the line of duty. Bill loved the Lord and the Lord used him to touch people. He will be sorely missed. Bill's favorite thing to do besides minister, was to sit outside and smoke a cigar and play cribbage.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Colonna. He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 15 1/2 years Shelly Colonna; his son, Dominick; father, Nicholas; brothers, Edward and Nicholas all of Washoe Valley, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Bill will be missed by many.

A Celebration of his Life will be held January 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. at FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City. There will be a reception following the service at the Elks Lodge, 515 N. Nevada, Carson City. In lieu of flowers, a donation for Dominick will be much appreciated and may be made to Citibank (West) branch account # 8904189183.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bill and i worked together for two years in Reno. We had many wonderful times full of fun, conversation and love of the Lord. My thoughts and prayers are with Shelly and Dominick. He loved his family so much and they were always on his mind and in his heart.

I want to express my sympathy for Mrs. Colonna and her son, I met Mr. Colonna when he was a patient of mine; I was working nights at the hospital, and I was blessed by the Lord to have the opprotunity to sit and talk with him and pray with him. I hope that the Lord will press His love upon the hearts of this family. I'm confident, I will see him again, in the Kingdom of our Father in Heaven. God Bless you Bill, you truly touched my heart, and encouraged me to continue to seek the Lord. Erica Y

I'm glad you're home with the Lord, but I sure wish that the situation had been different. I remember moving Bill from his Frame Shop in the Greenbrae Shopping Center years ago, and hanging out with him at the Church campout. I have memories of you, and will not forget the song that you wrote and shared with me during a hard time. Thanks for all the good times that we shared, even though we saw each other rarely. See you at the King's Table.
