Gary Whittaker age 69 of Grandview, Tennessee died on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was born on October 16, 1956, to the late Robert W. and Dovie Padgett Whittaker and was a lifetime resident of the area. Gary attended school in Monterey, Tennessee. He spent a majority of his working career with Dayton Housing Authority until his retirement in 2022. Gary was a member of the York Rite and the Dayton Lodge #512 F.&A.M. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, and playing golf. Gary also loved football, especially the UT Vols. He was a member of Open Door Fellowship in Spring City, Tennessee.

Gary is also preceded in death by his brothers Thomas (Sonny), Jefferson, Robert, Ray, Raymond, and Donald Whittaker; and his sisters Irene Rex, Nellie Manis, Sarah Jane Holt, and Marla Gentry.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years Kathy Whittaker of Grandview, Tennessee; his son Jacob (Rochelle) Whittaker of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his brothers Leroy Rex and Harvey Whittaker both of Monterey, Tennessee; his sister June Phillips of Monterey, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1:00P.M. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Mullins officiating. Interment with graveside Masonic services followed in

Johnson-Stand Cemetery in Grandview. The family received friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
