Dean W. Johnson, age 77, of Rib Lake, WI & formerly of Rice Lake, WI died Thursday, April 18th, 2024 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born March 5th, 1947 to Wallace & Doris (Fankhauser) Johnson at Rice Lake & was raised and attended school at Barron where he graduated in 1965.
He served in the US National Guard for over 20 years before retiring in 1989. On October 23rd , 1982 he was married to Shaunee (Wedeking) at Camp Williams, WI. He also served active duty in the US Army from 1984-87. He then worked several years for the City of Medford until his retirement. Dean was an avid NASCAR, Packers & Brewers fan.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife: Patty (Kuehndorf) & 2nd wife: Shaunee on December 20th, 2015.
He is survived by his daughter: Janine Johnson of Chetek, step-daughter: Tiffany (Tony) Lueck of Prentice, WI, grandchildren: Joshua Lueck & Lindsey (James) Wadzinski, great grandchildren: James, Piper & Jasper Wadzinski & Emma Lueck, brothers: Mark, Lee (Rita) & Kevin (Amanda) Johnson, sisters: Linda (Bob) Miles & Debbie (Mike) Dietrich, nieces & nephews: Rece Dietrich, Trey & Taylor Johnson, Joe & Jennifer Hoglund, Haley Johnson & Jennifer (Rod) Simon, as well as his beloved cats: George & Spike.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 1-3 p.m. at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Cameron. Interment with Military Honors will be held at a later date at Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at Spooner.
