Geraldine "Gerry" Mense, age 94 of Rice Lake, WI, died Saturday, January 10, 2026 in Rice Lake, WI.
She was born on August 3, 1931 in Wheeler, WI to Martin and Mabel (Holton) Giere. Gerry graduated from Colfax High School in 1950. She was married to Donald Mense on August 27, 1955 in Menomonie, WI. Gerry enjoyed being a homemaker and loved taking care of her 3 boys.
She was very active at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rice Lake - worked funeral lunches, made quilts, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served on the Altar Guild; a member of the Lakeview Medical Center Auxiliary, and worked for Yours Mine and Ours thrift store. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and making crafts.
Gerry was genuine, selfless, patient, loving, kind, and a very caring woman who was full of grace.
She is survived by 3 sons, Mark (Nancy) Mense, Dean (Carolyn) Mense and Steve (Darlene) Mense; 2 grandchildren, Kylie (Matthew) Schell and Kooper Mense; a great grandson, Henry Schell; a sister, Marilyne Johnson; a sister-in-law, Helenmae Debee; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mense; 8 siblings, Margaret Riedel, Ida Lausted, Stella Hansen, Vernon Giere, Jeanette Johnson, Raymond Giere, Roger Giere and Audrey Petersen.
Funeral Services will be 11AM Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, Rev. Ned Lenhart officiating and interment in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI after the service. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
