Edward Arthur Langlais

1963 - 2025

BELLINGHAM, MA- Edward Arthur Langlais, 62, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on July 2, 1963, he was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. A true entrepreneur, Edward turned his passion and talent for buying, repairing, and selling cars into a successful business. He was the proud founder and owner of a local auto sales and repair establishment, where he was known for his dedication, expertise, and commitment to his customers.

In his youth, Edward enjoyed the camaraderie of team sports. He attended Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, RI, and was known for his competitive spirit, earning him the nickname Rocky (Balboa) in the media coverage of his local CYO basketball league championship. He went on to attend the University of Rhode Island.

This passion for sports continued throughout his life, as he became an avid professional sports fan, particularly of football and the New England Patriots.

Above all, Edward cherished his family. He took great joy in his children and was a doting grandfather to his granddaughter. His infectious laughter and kind spirit brightened the lives of all who knew him.

Edward is survived by his father, Arthur Rosario Langlais, his (former) wife, Helena Chmielinski (ne Fernandes), and his children, Brittany Marie Langlais and Scott Edward Langlais, as well as his granddaughter,

Naomi Matos. He is also survived by his sister Diane Quintanar (Gerard Quintanar), Gerard Langlais (Josephine Iannelli) and Sandra Kister (Mark Kister), as well as nieces and nephews. He shared many meaningful years with Kathy McCarthy, whose presence brought warmth and companionship to his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Marie Langlais (ne Lafond), and his daughter, Erica Rose Langlais.

Visitation hours are scheduled at Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick, RI 02893, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 144 Danielson Pike (Rt. 6), North Scituate, RI 02857, at 10:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the RISPCA Animal Rescue, 155 Plan Way, Warwick, RI 02886 in honor of his lifelong love of dogs.
