Elaine Freeman Obituary

WAKEFIELD, RI- Elaine Lavalle Freeman, born May 22, 1929, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025. Elaine was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late John Lavalle, and Ellen Tufts Lavalle. She was pre-deceased by her former husband Felix Freeman, her brother John Lavalle Jr. Jack, and sisters Alice, Mary-Dean, and Virginia. She leaves behind her children; John Freeman and Elizabeth Smyres Freeman of Burlington, VT, William Freeman and Susan Higginbotham Freeman of South Kingstown, RI, and Ellen Freeman of Boulder Creek, CA. Elaine was the loving Grandmother to 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Fordham University, and an acclaimed sculptor and painter. She studied and taught at the Sculpture Center Studios in NYC and served on their board of Trustees.

Elaine was also a board member and award recipient at the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. She is represented in over fifty private and corporate collections and was the recipient of many awards.

Elaine was a kind soul who loved her family, friends and pets. She loved to travel and was much admired for her generosity, wit, and charm. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
