Francis Fitzpatrick Obituary

Francis Fitzpatrick

Francis Fitzpatrick, 93, of Matunuck and Cranston, RI a beloved pillar of both family and community, peacefully departed this world surrounded by his family on May 31, 2024.

He is survived by his six children, Francis (Julie) Fitzpatrick of Virginia, Catherine Egan of Warwick, Eleanor (John) Smollen of South Carolina, Elizabeth (Dennis) Casey of Maryland, JoAnne (Douglas) Jasinski of Maryland, and Stephen (Kelly) Fitzpatrick of Wakefield. He was blessed with many wonderful grandchildren, Jenny, Patrick, Jack, Caitlan, Matthew, Amy, Nicholas, Kyle, Michael, Charlie, Stephen, Kylie, and Ireland. He is also survived by his sister Sally Taft, and his sisters-in-law Sarah Conaty and Peggy Fitzpatrick.

Fran was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cathy, his brother Peter Fitzpatrick, and his granddaughter Kiera Rose Fitzpatrick.

Fran attended LaSalle Academy and Providence College. He was a proud veteran who served honorably in the Korean War as an Army Combat Medic. He had a long career in sales, working for PPG Industries until his retirement.

He was a devoted husband to Cathy, married for an incredi-

ble 65 years. Their enduring love was a testament to commitment, loyalty, and unwavering support for one another. Together, they created a home filled with love and laughter. He always cherished large family gatherings, long hours at the Sunday dinner table and celebrating his children and grand children.

While raising his family in Cranston and spending summers in Matunuck, he spent countless hours fostering community by volunteering, fundraising, organizing events and serving on the board for many organizations including Boy Scouts of America, St. Mark Church and School, St. Romuald Chapel, Matunuck Commu- nity Association, Blackberry Beach Club, and Willow Dell Beach Club. With his out going personality he was able to build a sense of belonging, connecting people to church and community.

The family would like to extend special thanks and recognition to Gina, who lovingly cared for our father and mother. She is a treasured friend and provided comfort to our entire family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Friday, June 7th at 10 a.m. in Saint Romuald Chapel, Matunuck, RI. Burial with military honors to follow in Rhode Island Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, June 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield RI.

The Fitzpatricks were our Neighbors while we lived in Garden City. My son Michael and Steven were great friends. I remember Kathy while our Boys were in Grammar School. Amazing Family they were.
Sympathy to all of the Family..
