Shirley A. Cancelliri, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Antonio Cancelliri. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Raymond and Isabel (Sullivan) Olson.
She worked for the North Kingstown School Department, mainly Wickford Middle School, for 35 years and was lovingly known as "Mrs C" to all her students who to this day still call her that. She enjoyed a good game of cards and going to the casino as well as a good joke. But her major accomplishment in her life was her love of her family. The happiest times of her life when her family was all together. She was the greatest mother anyone could have.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Karen Vieira (husband, Carl), and Susan Andre (husband, Rick); and her grandchildren, Lindsay, Carl and (Cristina).
Her family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Cedar Crest Nursing home where she lived for the past few months where they took care of her and treated her with love.
A private graveside service will be held in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her name to the North Kingstown Pet Refuge, 500 Stony Lane, North Kingstown, RI 02852.

I have nice memories of Shirley. She was fun to work with and had a wry sense of humor. I remember how she enjoyed reading cookbook recipes during break times. She helped a lot of students succeed over the years. We all admired also the great job she did raising 2 daughters on her own after her husband passed away at a young age. Shirley was a good person, honest, kind and caring.
