Darlene Peterson Darlene Marie Patterson Peterson, 88, Richfield, passed away Feb. 3, 2024, in Richfield after a hard-fought battle with Dementia. She was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Pioche, Nevada, the first of six children born to Aubra Clark and Veone Christensen Patterson. Darlene lived in Manderfield until she was 8 years old and then moved to Joseph. Darlene attended elementary school in Elsinore and then Joseph. She attended South Sevier High School where she graduated in 1953. She met Richard L. "Dick" Peterson at Fish Lake at a dance; they loved going to Fish Lake to the activities. They were married Dec. 12, 1952, in Elsinore. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti temple. Together they had three children, Beth Ann Rickenbach (Clair, deceased), Glenwood; Cay Lyn (John) Juluson, Richfield; and Calvin Peterson, Ely, Nevada. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She had many wonderful memories with her grandchildren. Dick preceded her in death Sept. 1, 2013. She helped Dick in the insurance business for many years. They later quit the insurance business to fulfill their dream of having their own greenhouses. Darlene would get all her housework done and then away to the greenhouses she would go. She was well known for her geraniums. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, and sisters, Shirley Studebaker and Lea Peterson. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Edwin "Sonny" Patterson, Gordon Patterson, and Julia Ann Mayhew; and son-in-law, Clair Rickenbach. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at noon in the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
