Marianne Buchanan

Marianne Buchanan Marianne Buchanan, proud daughter of Richfield, born Feb. 4, 1935, to Dorothy and Robert Dell Buchanan, passed away April 27, 2023, after several years battling a declining health. She was 88. Marianne was a graduate of Richfield High School and the University of Utah. At RHS, she was deeply involved with school plays and activities, making amazing friends that would last a lifetime, ultimately becoming Ms. Richfield before heading to college. She married Erich W. Kirchhoefer after they met at the University of Utah. They had three wonderful children, Michelle (Kurt) Hadfield, Stephen Kirchhoefer, and Rob (Amber) Kirchhoefer. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dorothy and Robert Dell Buchanan; and all totaled, she is survived by her sister, Kay Greene, seven grandchildren,and three great-grandchildren. She had a deep love of her Richfield roots, and in her decades here, whether as a young woman or a grade-school teacher (Monroe and Pahvant elementaries), affected all the lives of those she came in contact with, not the least of which were the hundreds of grade-school children who knew her simply as, "Mrs. K." Her funeral will be held in Salt Lake City Thursday, May 4, and she will be buried in the Richfield City cemetery Friday, May 5, 2023. To see her full obituary, please refer to premierfuneral.com.
