Joe J. Weyant, age 95, of 310 Oak St., Ridgway, died Sunday, April 11, 2021, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born April 7, 1926, in Knox Twp., Jefferson County, son of the late Josiah M. and Bessie E. (Wadding) Wyant (Weyant). He married Dorothy Elizabeth Weyant and then Betty Marie Weyant. He resided in Ridgway for many years. He was a Protestant by faith and was a life member of the American Legion Post 208. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the 104th Infantry Regiment 26th Yankee Division 42nd and 83rd Battalion during WW II. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, the European Campaign Medal, and the WW II Victory Medal. He had been employed by Clarion Sintered Metals for 27 years.
Joe was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by the following children: Joseph H. (Donna) Weyant of Reynoldsville, PA, Judy Ann (Kenneth) Wendel of St. Marys, David C. Wolfe of Kersey, Rodney L. (Lori) Weyant of Brookville, Pamela R. Gulnac and fiancee Thomas Moran of Ridgway, Candace M. Weyant of Ridgway, John A. (Brenda) Weyant of Marienville, PA, Karen J. Weyant and fiancee Anthony Patalano of Warren, PA; 8 grandchildren: Diane, Joseph, Stacey, Tiffany, Brian, Becky, Heather, and Justin; 21 great-grandchildren: Joey Paul, Shelby, Richard, Danielle, Trenton, Lindsay, Eric, Kyle, Braydon, Carlie, Marissa, Brian, Jaylynn, Baylee, Sarah, Gabbi, Benny, Will, Caitlin, Alex, and Lexi; 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wives Dorothy Elizabeth Weyant and Betty Marie Weyant, he was preceded in death by a grandson K.J. Wendell, a son-in-law Gerald Gulnac, David Wolfe's special friend Arlene Robuck, 3 brothers Ardell, Byron, and Bernard Weyant, 2 sisters Eileen Mauk and Meriam Alvetro.
Funeral and Committal Services for Joe J. Weyant will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM with Military Honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen's Burial Detail. Officiating will be Rev. Edward Burkett, Pastor of the New Hope in Christ Church. Burial will be at Corsica (Pisgah) Cemetery in Corsica, PA.
