Linda L. Gier

1949 - 2021

Linda L. Gier, age 72, formerly of 1456 Nicholson St., Erie, PA, died early Monday morning, November 22, 2021, at The Lutheran Home at Kane following a lengthy illness. She was born January 25, 1949, in Ridgway, daughter of Jean H. (Durnell) Gier and the late Amos Gier. She resided in Erie for many years. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing bocce ball and attending summer concerts with friends. Linda was a die hard Raider Fan. She was a 1966 graduate of Elk County Christian High School. She had been employed by the Social Security Office in Erie. Linda was an Associate for the Sisters of St. Joseph and a Pastoral Care Associate for St. Vincent Hospital in Erie.

She is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Susan (Chris) Klase of Ridgway, Joseph (Dawn) Gier of Ridgway, Vonalee (Francis) Serafini of Brockport, and Karen Wagner of Georgia; the following nieces and nephews: Allison Gier, Jonathan "JJ" Klase, Nathan Klase, Adrian Mawn and Lacy Burke; and her best friend Sr. Rita Zattosky. She was preceded in death by her father Amos Gier, her birth mother Doris Rippy, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Linda L. Gier will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 12:00 PM. Officiating will be Fr. Justin P. PIno, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM.
