Madeline Smith "Mallie" Huff

1924 - 2016

Madeline "Mallie" Smith (McBurney) Huff, 92, a longtime resident of the St. Marys area, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at the Berkshire Center Nursing Home in Reading where she resided since April 2016. Formerly, she resided at Elk Towers in St. Marys.
Twin daughter of Genevieve E. Benninger and John M. Smith, she was born March 8, 1924 in St. Marys.
Madeline graduated from the Johnsonburg Area High School, Class of 1942. She and her twin sister Adeline Smith Donahue were married in a double ring ceremony on May 4, 1946. Following their respective honeymoons, they purchased a duplex home living side by side on East Avenue in Johnsonburg. The twins were both employed by Stackpole Carbon Company in St. Marys until their retirement in 1986.
She is survived by her twin sister, Adeline Smith Donahue of Warner Robbins, Georgia; her son, Richard L. McBurney and spouse Javier Ruiz of Odessa, Texas; her daughter, Genevieve L. Bakanowski and spouse David Bakanowski of Reading; her son, Patrick H. McBurney and spouse Corinne McBurney of Kersey; her daughter, Christine M. Keith and spouse Kelly Keith of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who live across the United States.
Her entire extended family that she held close to her heart brought her a lifetime of great joy and warm memories.
Madeline was preceded in death by both parents; her husbands, Robert L. McBurney and Donald Huff; her brothers, Richard and John Smith; a sister, Genevieve Smith Aiello; two sons, Robert W. and Michael J. McBurney; and twin grandchildren, Maggie and Isaac Bakanowski.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service for Madeline "Mallie" Smith (McBurney) Huff to be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating. Gravesite services will be private at the respectful request of the family. There will be no visitation.
