Richard C. Mercer, Jr., age 85, of 48 Gilbert Dr., Ridgway, died Friday, June 23, 2021, at Pinecrest Manor. He was born October 1, 1935, in Ridgway, son of the late Richard C. and Merriam (Oknefski) Mercer, Sr. He was married to Jean O'Connor, she survives. He resided in Ridgway all of his life. Dick was a diehard Ridgway Elker fan, a Raider fan, he enjoyed NASCAR and his Harley. He had been employed by Lundin Trucking, Valley Coal, Briggs, and North Star. He was a mechanic and truck driver.

He is survived by his wife Jean Mercer of Ridgway, 5 children: Richard C. Mercer III of Ridgway, Debra (Sylvain) Boulet of Cocoa Beach, FL, Robert (Jennifer) Mercer of Ridgway, Darlene (Sam) Beaver of Ridgway, and Donald (Barbara) Mercer of Hollidaysburg, PA; 11 grandchildren: Michael, Dany, Samantha, Dodie, Jack, Holly, Hannah, Sadie, Branden, Jacob, and Jillian; 7 great-grandchildren: Sagan, Calvin, Riley, Conner, Parker, Paisley, and Cash; 1 sister Muriel Eckert of Truman, PA; 2 brothers: Fred Mercer of Corry, PA and John Mercer of Ridgway and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 son T.J. Mercer, 2 brothers Rodger and William Mercer, and 1 sister Wanda Mercer in infancy.

At Dick's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Ridgway Ambulance Service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home. Share your online condolences at thompsonfuneralhomepa.com
