Ruth A. Pennington

1956 - 2025

Ruth A. Pennington, 69, of 6 Clarion Rd., Johnsonburg, passed away Monday morning, July 7, 2025, at her residence. She was born June 20, 1956, in Ridgway, a daughter to the late Edward W. and Shirley A. Henry Hanson. On April 17, 1994, in Johnsonburg, she married James E. "Jim" Pennington, Sr. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2024.
Ruth lived most of her life in Johnsonburg and was a 1974 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School. She was a member of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church where she had been a Youth Group Leader for many years. She was a member of Central Hose Co. and PSEA. Ruth loved horses. She owned, showed and rode horses, excelling in barrel racing. She learned to play the flute in high school and continued to play throughout her younger life.
Ruth had been employed by the Johnsonburg Area School District as a Student Aide at the Johnsonburg Elementary School for several years.
Ruth is survived by her sister Debra Poinelli (Anthony) of Boise, ID, a step-son, James E. Pennington, Jr. (Robin) of Ridgway and a step-daughter, Julie A. Pennington of St. Marys and 2 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth is predeceased by a daughter Sandra Jo Pennington and a step-son John Pennington.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service for Ruth A. Penington to be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, PA on Monday July 14, 2025 at 11 AM with Robert Johnson, Lay Minister officiating. Interment will be in Wardvale Methodist Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the funeral home for one hour prior to service time at 11 am on Monday July 14, 2025.
