Lois M. Rey (nee Wright), 83, of Sleepy Hollow, NY passed away on July 21, 2025.
Born on September 14, 1941, in Meadville, PA, Lois grew up on a farm in neighboring Guys Mills, with her father, Arden, a house painter, and her mother, Helen, an EKG Technician. She adored her two younger brothers, Don (wife Colleen) a Welder and now deceased and Robert (wife Jan) a Physician in St. Louis, MO. She was a proud older sister and always looked after her baby brothers.
Lois attended Randolph High School and was Valedictorian of the class of 1959. Following graduation, she attended Spencer Hospital School of Nursing in Meadville, PA where she graduated in 1962. She immediately moved to the ""big city"" of Erie, Pennsylvania where she eventually met her future husband, Frank, a Radioman in the Navy whose ship was docked in the Port of Erie in 1964.
Lois married Francisco Joseph Rey on September 25, 1965, in Guys Mills, PA. Following their wedding, Lois and Frank moved to the small hamlet of Sleepy Hollow, NY, where she raised her children for over 40 years. She was a devoted mother to Linda, Laura (husband Anthony), Lesley (husband Michael) and Francisco Jr. (wife Natalia), and later a cherished grandmother to Ava, Zoe, Caitlin, Isabela, Erin and Allison. Lois was a loving fur-mom to Brody and fur-grandmother to Sophie and Cooper?.
While raising her family in Sleepy Hollow, Lois worked as a Pediatric Nurse at Phelps Memorial Hospital for over 36 years. She loved caring for children and her warm and nurturing personality made this the perfect profession for her. She enjoyed traveling with her family and their closest friends' families, always ensuring the kids experienced all that life had to offer: camping, skiing in the Poconos, trips to Disney World, a family trip to Spain, an anniversary trip to Hawaii and of course, summers at the beach. ?
Upon retirement and moving to Ormond Beach, Lois and Frank bought an RV and traveled the country to visit their dear family and friends. Lois was always proud to say they visited every state in the USA (except Alaska). They traveled to all National State Parks and a very memorable trip to Sturges, ND where Frank installed a lift to the back of their RV so he could bring his motorcycle. Lois loved to tell people that they traveled the USA 3 times round trip!
Lois had an infectious smile and did everything with honesty and integrity. She had extraordinarily strong values and was adored by all who met her. Lois also had incredible patience and strength even to her last breath. She put everyone first especially her loving husband, Frank, whom she cared for up until her death.
Lois was a devoted Catholic and believed that all her blessings in life were due to her faith in God. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach. She loved attending Sunday Mass with her husband and enjoyed singing all of the hymns with her beautiful voice.
Lois's legacy will carry on forever in her children and grandchildren reminding us that we must live our life with gratitude and love.
