Aleene Whitaker Obituary

Aleene Oliver Whitaker, 80, of Blacksburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at her home. She was born in Montgomery County, Va., on December 25, 1928, to the late Kent Black and Irene Isabell Perdue Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee (Frog) Whitaker Sr.; son, Robert Lee (Bobby) Whitaker Jr.; two daughters, Betty W. Hungate and Barbara Jean Whitaker; and a very special grandson, Michael Lee Whitaker. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth W. Ray and Sandra W. Price, both of Blacksburg, Dorothy and Daril Harvey, of Newport, Va., and Ella and Hunter Clayton, of Pembroke, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell E. and Kathy Whitaker, of California; sister, Dorce Sweeney, of Blacksburg, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Marie Oliver, of Columbia, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Frances Whitaker, of McCoy; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bobby Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after noon on Friday, July 3, 2009, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., S.W., Blacksburg, Va.

MAY THE LORD BE WITH YOU AT THIS TIME OF YOUR SORROW, MAY HE HEAL YOUR HEART WITH THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES THAT ALEENE LEFT BEHIND. I REMEMBER RIDING DOWN WITH ANGIE IN HER JEEP TO VISIT HER GRANDMA AND SHE MADE YOU FEEL LIKE SHE WAS EVERYONE'S GRANDMA. SHE MADE YOU FEEL RIGHT AT HOME. SHE SURELY WILL BE MISSED.
