Angie Fulton Obituary

On Friday, November 6, 2009, God whispered to Angie Carson Jordan Fulton, "My faithful servant, come home." Angie was born on June 1, 1919, in Roanoke County to the late William and Mary Jasper Hamm Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Fulton; one brother, Willie Jordan; three sisters, Virgie Jones, Mary Harris and Melvia Huntley; one niece, Elizabeth Pannell; and surrogate son, Henry B. Connelly.
Angie worked for the Connelly family for 35 years; her surrogate children, David Connelly and family, of Huntington Beach, Calif., Elizabeth (Juan) Jiminez, of Wake Forest, N.C., Eugene A. Connelly and family, of Roanoke, Va., Peter H. Connelly and family, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Robert R. Connelly and family, of Harrisonburg, Va.; and 11 surrogate grandchildren.
Those left to rejoice in her memory are one daughter, Mrs. Sherby Jean Williams, of Panama City, Fla.; two nephews, Richard (Joyce) Jordan, of Olympia Fields, Ill., and William (Clara) Jones, of Vinton, Va.; four great-nieces, Bernice J. (Anthony) Griffin, of Fort Washington, Md., Beverly J. Mason, of Roanoke, Va., Tiffany L. Jordan, of Chicago, Ill., and Melissa A. Hackley, of Roanoke, Va.; six greatnephews, Jerome Harris, of Chillicothe, Ohio, James Pannell and Charles Pannell, both of Columbus, Ohio, Marvin (Catherine) Pannell, of Panama City, Fla., and William Jones Jr. and Jay C. (Frederica) Jones, of Roanoke, Va.; 23 great-great-nieces and nephews; many more loving cousins and family members including two devoted cousins, James R. St.Clair Jr. and Mary C. Terry; her Jerusalem Baptist Church family and friends; and her phone buddies, Mrs. Irene Guerrant, Mrs. Sarah Bratton, Mrs. Gladys Welcher and Mrs. Maxine Meeks.
Special thanks to all those at Pheasant Ridge North Roanoke Assisted Living and our Lady of the Valley for taking such good care of Angie.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Edward T. Burton officiating. The interment will be in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service. We've lost a great lady. Ms. Fulton you were such a dear friend to my grandmother Leanna Downs and that memory is forever etched in my mind. You were always a sweet and wonderful person and you will be sadly missed.
