Ashley Simpson Obituary
September 14, 1983 - November 3, 2024
Ashley Leigh Simpson, 41, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Julian Richard "Pawpaw" Ferguson, Robert Alvin Simpson Sr.; and her grandmother, Mary Lou Simpson.
Ashley is survived by her parents, George "Pat" Simpson and Karen Ferguson Simpson; brother, Julian Robert "Rob" Simpson (Erin); nieces and nephews, Asher, Charlize "Charlie", Riley, Finn and Darby; grandmother, Dorothy "Dot" "Mawmaw" Ferguson; aunts and uncles, Julie Huckaby, Lynne Asbury, Robert Alvin Simpson Jr. (Linda), Michael J. Simpson (Anna), Chubby Wiggins (Sherry), James E. Simpson (Becky), Nina Louise Rhodes (Billy), and Margaret E. Bohon (Randy); along with many cousins and friends.
She was born in Salem, VA, on September 14, 1983. She graduated from William Byrd High School where she was a former cheerleader. Her cheerleading team were district champions for four years and in her senior year became state champions. She also enjoyed belonging to the Supper Club – a group of girls who were best friends throughout high school.
After high school she attended Radford University where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees. Following graduating from college, she started working at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Roanoke Regional Office, where she was a management analyst having worked 16 years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Travis Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to CHIP of Roanoke Valley, 1201 3rd Street SW, Roanoke, VA 24016 or to the Bradley Free Clinic, 1240 3rd Street SW, Roanoke, VA 24016. Friends may leave condolences to the family by visiting www.oakeys.com.

Ashley was a good neighbor of mine. I love to get out and walk around the neighborhood and she and I use to past each other alot while out walking. I was very sad to hear this from another neighbor. I miss her like crazy.

Ashley was such a beautiful woman And she was the daughter of my best friend from high school Karen, her mother. I work briefly with her at the department of VA and she was such a sweet person with such a sweet smile. My condolences to her family.
