Barbara Shepherd Obituary

Barbara Shepherd

May 23, 1943 - October 31, 2024

Barbara Shepherd, 81, amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on October 31, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bowers and father HO Moore; and her beloved husband, Larry Shepherd; and baby daughter Vicky. Mom was a 4'10" (although she claimed she was once 5 ' tall) dynamo and the strongest and most loving person. She was an amazingly affectionate mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. Mom became a widow at the young age of 48 and reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, Henry Eads, and they had a beautiful 32 years together. Mom never knew a stranger, loved to make people laugh, loved the outdoors, animals and her flowers. Left to cherish her memory is her loving partner of 32 years, Henry Eads. She leaves behind her children, Nora Silvia- Strong, Timothy Shepherd and (Mom's bonus daughter) Tammy, and Nancy Shepherd. Mom also leaves behind her grandchildren who were her greatest blessing, Samantha Strong, Logan Shepherd and wife Liz, Hannah Shepherd, Adam Shepherd, Nick Shepherd; and great-grandson, Kyler Strong. She also leaves behind her sweet sister, Margaret Thorns; and brother, Rick Bowers.

The family will be having a celebration of life potluck in which they invite all to come, bring a favorite dish and share stories and wonderful memories of Mom. She loved nothing more than a gathering and fellowship of loved ones. The celebration of life will be held at the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Fellowship Hall at 915 Montgomery Street, Christiansburg on November 16, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
