Barry Clark Obituary

Barry Lee Clark, 39, passed away on July 19, 2009. Barry spent his childhood in Daleville with his mom and stepdad, Nettie and Walter Boothe. Barry graduated from Lord Botetourt High School, where he played golf and baseball. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Ferrum College and then settled in Richmond and began his career in the healthcare industry. He was most recently employed by Coventry Healthcare as a sales representative and achieved their coveted President's Council status for the prior two years. In addition to his parents, Barry is also survived by his loving wife, Holly Melhorn Clark; their three young sons, Brody Thomas, Davis Winfield, and Nathan Wyatt Clark; his brothers, Curtis Clark and his wife, Bonnie and Darald Boothe and his wife, Donna; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jon and Nancy Melhorn; his stepsister, Sherry Martin; his very special aunt and uncle, Sarah and Menachem Kadec; his mother-in-law, Kathryn "Kay-Kay" Blair; father-in-law, Donald Melhorn; nephew, Brandon Boothe; nieces, Lily and Mimi Melhorn; his boston terrier, Auggie; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandma, Mary Thomas. Barry loved sports, house projects, beach trips, golfing, skiing, being with his friends, and most of all, his family. With his sons, he especially loved trips to Lowe's, watching NASCAR together, and just playing outside. His children are left with his incredible legacy. Barry's battle with Melanoma was fought with courage, dignity, and humor for 3 ½ years, setting a remarkable example for all, especially those dealing with a severe illness. His quick wit, infectious smile and personality, and ability to find laughter in tough times, were evident to all that knew him. A service and reception celebrating Barry's life will be held on Tuesday, July 21 at 2 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen. At a later date, his ashes will be spread on the family land at Switzer Mountain in Fincastle. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the "Barry Clark Boys" Memorial Fund at any First Market Bank location or the Dr. Chris Desch Foundation, P.O. Box 8467, Richmond, VA 23226. The family sincerely thanks everyone for the outpouring of help and encouragement and to Barry's compassionate caregivers.

My deepest synpathy to Barry's family, it was with heavy heart that I heard of his passing, most knew Barry as an Adult..a dedicated father and husband, I knew Barry as my next door neighbor from the age of six onward, his immediate family.. Nettie,Walter,Grannie,Curtis and Darryl treated me and my sister Tammy as their own. The times we all shared were very special. I will always remember my backyard football buddy....My prayers are with you all

Holly and boys,

I was heartbroken to hear that Barry's fight has ended.
You will continue to be in my prayers as I know the days ahead will be difficult.
It is comforting to know that Barry is rejoicing in Heaven and probably cracking some really good jokes.
Hold on to your faith, it will get you thru.
All my best,
Sherri Woods VonLobstein
