Bessie Mae Corbin

Bessie Mae (Stinnett) Corbin, 83, widow of Gail B. Corbin, of 83 Crossroads Lane, Fishersville, Va., and formerly of Greenville and Village Green at the Lake, Waynesboro, Va., died on Saturday, December 19, 2009, in Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on March 7, 1926, in Amherst County, a daughter of the late Henry and Allie (Coleman) Stinnett. Two families gave her a wonderful childhood life. At the age of seven, a special couple, Papmlin and Ella (Ramsey) Bradley, of Forks of Buffalo, raised her until the age of 14. She then came to live with Stanley and Velma Ramsey, of Vesuvius. Mrs. Corbin was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church. Her husband preceded her in death on March 4, 1975, and she was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Stinnett. Family includes three sons, Robert M. Corbin, of Waynesboro, Ray B. Corbin, of Stuarts Draft, and Roger L. Corbin, of Greenville; twin daughters, Martha Easter and her husband, Royce, of Galax, and Mary Corbin, of Waynesboro; a sister, Jarlene Brandonburg, of Kettering, Ohio; eight grandchildren; a number of greatgrandchildren; two special friends, Ruth Bradley and Loree Mays, both of Forks of Buffalo; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. H. Max Bolin, Harold W. "Pete" Campbell, and John Sullivan. Private burial will be in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, in the funeral home and at other times at the home of her son, Robert M. Corbin, with whom she made her home for the past 35 years.
