Beulah Johnson Obituary

Beulah Marie Harris Johnson, 88, of Narrows, Va., went to Heaven to be with the Lord and to join her husband of 52 years on Monday, August 30, 2010. She was born in Willis, Va., on July 8, 1922, and was the youngest child of the late Giles Ora and Nancy Jane Nester Harris. There was never a person more pure of heart and devoted to her family, church and friends. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows where she served in the choir, Christian Women's Fellowship, on numerous committees and various offices. Beulah was a gifted artist and well known for her crafts. Beulah will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all that knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Randall S. Johnson, of Hampton, Va., and Nancy Johnson, of Roanoke, Raymond H. Johnson and wife, Jill S. Johnson, of Charleston, S.C., Ronald N. Johnson and wife, Anna McClaugherty Johnson, of Princeton, W.Va., and Katrina J. Clyburn and husband, Donald, of Roanoke, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie J. Cline, of Princeton, Staci Johnson, of Ijamsville, Md., Katharine J. Carter and husband, Deon, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Ashley J. Padgett and husband, Ronald, of Charleston, S.C., Sarah Clyburn, of Roanoke, Joshua Clyburn, of San Francisco, Calif., and Justin Clyburn, of Raleigh, N.C.; six great-grandchildren, Adam Yniguez, Sarah Stafford, Emily Stafford, Tyanna Carter, Abigail Padgett and Madelyn Padgett; a sister, Euna Harris Cassell, of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Deane Harris, of Berryville, Va.; many nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of South Roanoke Nursing Home for the wonderful care Beulah received during her years there.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2010, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows with the Rev. Carroll Givens and the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Entombment will follow in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows on Thursday, September 2, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m.

How fortunate we were as children to see "friendship" at its best! Our moms sang together, played together, worked together, laughed together and wept together. Your father and mother even came by while Judy and I were in college in Indiana. Always thinking of someone else. Judy and I join you in your sorrow in this time of loss. God bless you.
