Bobby Lee Martin, 87, of Roanoke County, Va., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Born on August 4, 1938, Bobby lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication, love for his family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of the outdoors.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy M. Martin. Bobby was a proud and loving father to his daughters, Terri Poage (David), Tammy Sitze (Michael), and Teresa Walker (Carey), and his son, Bobby Lee Martin Jr. (Lisa). He was also a cherished Papa to Ashley Nader (Matt), Josh Poage (Courtney), Hannah Porter (Arren), Hailey Snyder (Grant), Hope Sitze, Ben Walker (Jourdan), Sam Walker (Hollyn), and Gracie Walker. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Easton, Charlie, Lucy, Sophia, and Lainey, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Bobby is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Turman and Norma Green (Willie); as well as his sister-in-law, Phyllis Martin; many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly; along with his loyal four-legged companion, Otis.
A man of strong faith, Bobby was a dedicated member of Haran Baptist Church. He spent 30 years working in the transportation department at Kroger, where he earned a reputation as a dependable and hardworking employee, rarely missing a day of work.
Bobby found his greatest happiness outdoors, whether tending to his garden, hunting in the woods, or fishing. He also enjoyed watching sports and racing. In his younger years, Bobby excelled in baseball and basketball at Cave Spring High School.
Above all, Bobby will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his steady presence, and his kind, humble nature. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and quiet strength that will live on in all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Oakey's South Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Don Summerville officiating. Interment will follow at Martin Family Cemetery.
