Catherine Barbour, 77, of Copper Hill, VA, died on Friday, November 28, 2025.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; and her son, Andy.
Cathy was predeceased by her daughter, Courtney; and her sister, Pat.
She was born in High Point, NC, on July 30, 1948, the daughter of the Rev. A. James Clemmer and Myrtle Doggett Clemmer.
Cathy graduated from UNC-G in 1970 with a BA in English, and retired in 2010 from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, VA.
After retirement, Cathy and Dave built their dream house in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and moved there in 2011.
Cathy was an amazing person. Talented and smart, she was the family's anchor, organizer, and record keeper. She was a very outgoing person and was energized through her many social contacts. Cathy particularly loved flowers, art, and movies. Her bright smile lit up a room wherever she was, and she was much loved and admired. Cathy will be greatly missed, especially by the love of her life, her husband, Dave.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the Chapel of Oakey's South Funeral Home, 4257 Brambleton Ave., Roanoke, VA 24018.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in memory of Cathy and Courtney Barbour be made to the Compass Center (compassctr.org), P.O. Box 1057, Chapel Hill, NC 27515. Condolences may be shared with her family by visiting www.Oakeys.com.

Cathy & I were cousins by birth and friends by choice. We hadn't been able to visit in person for a long time, but we stayed in touch by phone, email, text, letters, and cards. We shared so many things, from childhood memories to current reading selections. She was the person who could answer the question, "Do you remember when?' I will miss her laughter and kindness so much!

I have known Cathy from junior high; she was always bubbly and energetic and so positive. And Dave I am so sorry for the loss of your soulmate but know she is always with you in spirit!
