Cynthia "Cindy" Martin Light, 67, of Narrows, VA, was called to her Heavenly home while surrounded by many beloved friends and family on December 13, 2024. Cindy was born on October 1, 1957, and was the daughter of the late William Earnest (Corky) Martin and Leona S. Brookman Martin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Leon Edsel Light. She is survived by her son, Jonathan Martin Light (Emily Catherine Hawkins) of Narrows; and brother-in-law, Richard Light of Narrows. Cindy was the soul of her family's flower shop, Narrows Flower and Gift, for 53 years. There, she was known by so many people in the community and she dearly loved being part of many people's lives and occasions.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, December 19th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Narrows. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 20th, at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Narrows with Pastor Stuart Davis and Charles Henderson officiating with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery.

I enjoyed talking to Cindy on days I worked the funeral home and she called about the flowers. I enjoyed meeting her as well. I hated to hear about her passing. Prayers continue for her family and friends.

We're so very sorry to hear of the passing of Cindy. Although we've only known her 6 years she became a cherished friend and neighbor. She was one of the first people we met. Seeing her every day going to the flower shop next door, and always having time to stop and talk. Always kind and so sweet and always had a smile for us. She'll forever be missed and in our hearts. Prayers for her son and family to see them through.

Cindy and her parents have served our family for many, many years with grace and caring.
I am so very sorry for her family and the people of Giles County. We have all lost a beautiful talented lady. She was a jewel for everyone near and far, and will be missed.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Cindy was one of the most unique people that you would ever meet. A ray of sunshine on the darkest day most of us have ever had. She would listen, make suggestions, and then let the flowers speak. I ordered flowers for a service close to my heart, and when I walked into the viewing, I did not even have to look at the card, I knew which one were mine. I was amazed at the story those flowers told, there will never be another like her, she will be missed. God blessed you.

When I go to meet the Lord, I imagine heaven so beautiful! Now even more so with the addition of Cindy’s designs.
We lost a friend and family member and are sad, but Our Lord was ready to bring her home.

So sad to hear of Cindy's passing. She was always so kind and helpful in creating flower arrangements to send to my Aunt, Alice Nunley Robertson. Visiting from Texas, I got to meet Cindy in person at her shop and we chatted for a long time as she made a flower arrangement for me to take to my Aunt Alice. She knew exactly which flowers my aunt would like, and I could tell she loved her career. Rest in peace, Cindy. You lit up many peoples lives' and you will be missed. Prayers for her family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Cindy when she did a beautiful arrangement for my Dad's coffin when he passed and again years later when she did the arrangement for my Mother's coffin. She created beautiful arrangements and was a pleasure to meet. She did beautiful work. I am so sorry for your loss of a life that was taken too soon. RIP, Cindy!

Cindy was one of the nicest, most genuine people I’ve known. Last spring my daughter and two of her friends fund raised in order to buy a wreath for the Veterans Memorial in Narrows. Cindy was so touched by what they were doing, she donated it and refused to take their money. The girls ended up giving all of the money raised to the memorial. That was the kind of person Cindy was. I’m sorry to hear she passed because that is one less beautiful thing we have in this bleak world.
