Cyrus Steele McCormick Jr.

Cyrus Steele McCormick Jr., 76, of Lexington, Va., died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at home. Born January 18, 1933, the son of the late Cyrus S. McCormick and Mary Thacker McCormick Nicely. In addition he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen A. McCormick; brothers, Roy McCormick and Roger McCormick; sister, Blanche Tolley. He was a member of the Lauderdale Presbyterian Church. He retired from Burlington Industries. Surviving is his wife, Edna P. McCormick; sons, Donnie McCormick and wife, Debbie, of Stuarts Draft, Mike and Lynn McCormick, of Lexington; grandchildren, Brandon McCormick, Brooke McCormick, Lindsay McCormick, Cameron McCormick; sisters, Virginia Fox, of Fairfield, Vivian Adcock, of Lexington, Deanie Thrift, of Richmond and Lula Harris, of Buena Vista. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, but Mrs. McCormick will welcome friends and family at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Friends and family may also stop by Harrison Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, between 12 noon and 5 p.m. to sign the register book.
