David Edward Pomerleau
November 21, 1942 - October 30, 2025
David E. Pomerleau, 82, of Roanoke, Va., passed away unexpectedly at his home, on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
He was born on November 21, 1942, in Rochester, N.H., to the late Edward and Beatrice Pomerleau. He was also preceded in death by his cherished wife of 49 years, Patricia Bohan Pomerleau; his brothers, Ronald and Glen "Butch" Pomerleau; and his sister, Diane Hardy.
David lived a full and rewarding life. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, he honorably served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army.
Subsequently, he began a long business career with Moore's Lumber and Building Supplies, eventually settling in Roanoke, Va., in 1974. During his tenure at Moore's, David attended Harvard Business School. In 1992, he and Pat moved to Weston, Fla., where they owned and operated Youthland Academy daycare center. After retiring, they returned to Roanoke to be closer to family.
Pat passed in 2012, and David was blessed to find love again, meeting Gail. The two married a year later after a romantic proposal in Paris, France. David and Gail relished life and retirement together with family and friends. He enjoyed many activities, including golf, poker, travel, and he was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church as well as a long-time owner and member of Hidden Valley Country Club. David and Gail had a great love for travel abroad and domestically. They visited countries including Portugal, France, Egypt, Brazil and China as well as all 50 states.
Not to understate his many accomplishments and achievements, he also was a self-proclaimed certified Master at Sudoku and a one-time golf "hole-in-oner."
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 10 years, Gail Pomerleau; his sons, Brian (Tammy) and Kevin (Frances) Pomerleau; his daughter, Debra Pomerleau Mabry (Bill); as well as stepdaughters, Beth (Brock) Sellers and Irina (Dan) Burns; brothers-in-law, Lou Hardy and James Bohan; and sister-in-law, Nancy Pomerleau. In addition, he will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Brittany (Evan), Grace, Ty, Eva, Margaret, Andy, David, Jacob, Joshua, Samuel, Megan, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Braxtyn (great-grand); as well as his family and friends that have been so special in his life.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. Online condolences may be shared with his family by visiting
