I had the pleasure of first meeting Don in Sonora, CA at a film festival in Sonora, CA in 1997. I got to know him and the rest of the High Chaparral gang pretty well. I had a Western script that they were all excited to be a part of. I found Don to be a very genuine man and a wonderful person. His talent will endure as long as Western's are played on TV. Thank you Don for your kindness and for believing in my project. Will think of you on the set with fondness. Please say howdy to Bobby Hoy, Henry Darrow, Dick Farnsworth and the rest of the High Chaparral gang. You made it home pardner. Save me a good horse, I will see you in that land that knows no parting. God bless you my friend, I will never forget you.

I didn't find out till a few years back, that the cast would get together in Old Tucson and at other functions.. I was such a big fan of The High Chaparral... They were a wonderful group of people who set the scene for a wonderful Western story. So sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was definitely one of my favorite actors in this show. Warmest thoughts and prayers to the family and friends......

I met Don in 2019 at the Bonanza II Reunion. He was so personable! I told him I was a fan and brought pictures of him I collected. He asked to see them. He acted happy that I had brought them. He looked at each one and explained where they were taken. Then he asked if I wanted him to sign them and he did!

Met Don in Roanoke, Va about two years ago. Bought him a hamburger and sat down for lunch with him at the western book show. I asked him “ how do you remember all those lines”? He said “ because he wanted a paycheck at the end of the week!” What a delightful man and I Will remember all those things he told me about John Wayne.

High Chaparral is one of my favorite Western shows. Great actors & story lines. I just saw Don on t he The Virginian, and was wandering how he was doing & than saw he just passed away. He was my dad's age. So handsome & a very good actor. We just don't have actors like Don anymore.

Thank you for your service & entertaining all of us all these years.

May God bless & now you will ride into the sunset ..

Don was a lovely man to know. He came to our house, the Ponderosa II, in Mesa AZ in 2019 for the 60th Anniversary of the Bonanza TV series. He was down to earth, kind and so witty! We will always remember having coffee with Don in our kitchen a few weeks before the fan event. A treasure always. Our condolences to Don’s family.

A great Actor. Loved to hear his rough voice like John Wayne. I loved the High Chappal growing up watching it every week. In 1971 my Father, Mother and I visited their where they film the show and being from Indiana and 12 years old was so awesome. Now their is only 2 left from the show. They just can't make Westerns like that any more. Rest in Piece Don.

Don Collier was cheerful, affable, and and lovable! I first met him in KanabI was sittings alone, he and friends asked to join me. Time spent was memorable. Second time, I fell over some wires on the floor and landed at his feet. I really scared him. Next time, last time, he greeted me and called me, “darlin’”! He was darling, and had an endless smile. He was a man among men. And I will remember him with fondness!

I met Don at a High Chaparral reunion in L.A. several years ago. He was a very nice gentleman, very down to earth and personable. I was able to get an autograph from him and he was
so gracious about it. I loved him in the roll of Sam on the High Chaparral and I watched it faithfully as a young lady back in the 70's. May he rest in Peace. Thank you Don, for many good memories. My condolences to his family and friends on the loss of this gentle man.
