July 18, 2021

Doris K. Huffman, 86, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

Family and friends will fondly remember Doris' candid sense of humor and her feisty personality. In her younger years she could be found dancing to "The Twist," line dancing, roller skating, and generally sharing her zest for life with those around her.

Doris married the love of her life, Walter Huffman, when she was fifteen, and enjoyed 41 years of marriage with him until his death in 1991. As a long-time office manager for J.C. Penney, Doris built up a strong group of friends there with whom she shared countless laughs and memories.

After retiring in 1993 Doris took an interest in painting, especially scenes from nature that included birds and flowers. Always up for an adventure, she also loved to hit the road with her daughter and travel buddy, Carol Huffman. Even in her final months Doris maintained her appreciation for the simple pleasures that give color to our lives. In her case, hearing tunes from her beloved Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty would always put a smile on her face.

Doris was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. Huffman, and her son, Kurt Huffman. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Huffman.

Sweet lady. I worked with her at JC Penney. She crocheted a white pig for my son. He carried it everywhere. It brought him so much happiness. She will missed but not forgotten.
