Doris Reed Miller, 94, of Christiansburg, Va went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 19, 2025.
Doris also known as "Maw-Maw" to her grandchildren, was born in Jewel Ridge, Va on April 26, 1930, to Mollie Steele Reed and Lawrence Freeman Reed. The daughter of a coal miner she grew up in Richlands, Virginia. Later she went on to get married, have three children, work in upholstery, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. In recent years she enjoyed crocheting hats for Operation Christmas Child, making nearly 100 hats in one season.
Doris was preceded in death by her Mother and Father; husband, Howard George Miller Sr.; brother, Ralph Lee Reed; sister-in-law, Julia Corrine Reed; son, Howard George Miller Jr. and son, Lawrence Edward "Ed" Miller Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Miller Poff (Phillip) of Riner, Va; Daughter In-Laws, Jean Miller of Christiansburg, Va, and Barbara Miller of Cave Spring, Va; grandchildren, Lisa Miller St. Clair (Brad), Lawrence Edward "Eddie" Miller Jr. (Jessica), Cristy Poff Collins (Josh); and seven great-grandchildren, Elijah, Carter, Colton, Beau, Emmy, Lee and Toby.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23rd, at 12 p.m., at Horne Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 1 p.m., from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with Rev. Joshua Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
