Edith Jeanette Tuggle Almond
June 10, 1925 - April 23, 2022
Edith Jeanette Tuggle Almond, 96, of Lynchburg, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late Earl Franklin Almond for 59 years.
Born on June 10, 1925, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Tuggle and Emma Duncan Tuggle. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Edith Ann Almond; a brother, James Wayne Tuggle; and many other special family members.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter, Carolyn Sue Almond; a brother-in-law, Pete Almond; Jeff Davis, who is like a son, many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jeanette was a 1943 graduate of E.C. Glass High School who then went to work as a Secretary at Appalachian Power Company on Main Street. At the age of 61, she received her Associates Degree from CVCC with honors and continued performing Secretarial work in the Trust Department at Nations Bank formerly Sovran Bank. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Fort Hill United Methodist Church and attended Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church. She was a Past Noble Grand of Fairview Rebekah Lodge No.52 IOOF and a member of Lynchburg LAPM Auxiliary No. 16 IOOF. Jeanette enjoyed delivering for Meals on Wheels and Santa for Seniors, as well as, being a member of American Legion Post 16, Woodmen of the World, Lynchburg Telephone Pioneers and the Jamerson YMCA. Jeanette cherished the many lifelong friendships and memories of her White Rock Hill and Gates Street neighbors.
Family and friends are welcomed to visit from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory, 427 Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Jeanette's Life will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Fort Hill United Methodist Church, 106 Oakridge Blvd., Lynchburg, VA 24502. by the Reverend Marc Brown and the Reverend Janet Hawkins. Interment will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery, 2020 Grace Street in Lynchburg, with a Rebekah Funeral Ceremony presented by Fairview Rebekah Lodge No. 52 IOOF.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to family, friends, the medical community, sitter Danny Perdue and Caring from the Heart Caregivers- Cynthia, Mary, Marquita, Kimberly and Kim for their loving care, many prayers and continuous spiritual support.
