Edward (Eddie) Henegar

Edward (Eddie) Henegar, 79, of Vinton, Va., was called home on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pauline Henegar.

Eddie served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1968, dedicating his life to his country as part of the 327th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, known as Tiger Force. His bravery and commitment during the Vietnam War reflected his strength of character.

Beyond his military service, Eddie was a genuine lover of life. He found joy in country music, particularly when the rhythm made him want to dance. In his younger years, he cherished the simplicity of fishing and golfing, often relishing time spent on the greens.

A true car enthusiast, Eddie had a special fondness for Mustangs and took pride in his 1969 Ford Galaxy 500, a beloved car he had for over 20 years. His meticulous nature was evident not just in his passion for cars but also in his diligent work ethic, as he approached every task with care and precision.

Above all, Eddie was a benevolent soul, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved his family fiercely and was a steadfast presence in their lives, embodying the values of hard work, dedication and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Eddie is survived by his sons, Ray Henegar and Eric Henegar; daughter-in-law, Kym Henegar; grandchildren, Erik Henegar (Sierra), Elizabeth Fiery, Carla Deisher, and Haley Henegar (Gage); great-grandchildren, Eryck, Adilheide, and Leighton; his precious cat, Little Bit; and numerous other family and friends.

A funeral service to remember Eddie will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. TG Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be shared with his family by visiting www.Oakeys.com.
