Emma Kirby Obituary

Emma Lee Dutton Kirby, 95, of Salem, Va., went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2009, in Virginia Beach. She was the daughter of the late Grover and Nannie Southern Dutton. Emma was married to the late Raymond K. Kirby for 52 years. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Clifford, Charles and Mack. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Duke, of Salem; her son, Ray and his wife, Ann, of Virginia Beach; her sister, Evelyn Dutton, of Deland, Fla.; her brother, Alden Dutton and his wife, Eva, of Fredericksburg. Grandma will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Debbie Phillips and her husband, Lee, of Salem, Jim Duke and his wife, Stacey, of Salem, Ellen Kananen and her husband, Brant, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Amanda Kirby, of Virginia Beach and Kadee Ficklin and her husband, Dorsey, of Chesapeake; her greatgrandchildren, Dreama, William, Melody, Anthony and Chris; and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved very much. She was a member of Locust Grove Methodist Church in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Roger Counts of Calvary Baptist Church, Salem, on Monday, July 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel with burial to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
