Ersa May Rae

1930 - 2025

Ersa May Baggerly Rae, age 95, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on March 4th, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey to Arthur and Pearl Baggerly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Paul Campbell Rae; her sons Stephen, Brian, and James Rae; Her siblings: Edna Schultz, Arthur Baggerly Jr., Helen White, Ruth Daniels, John Baggerly, Paul Baggerly and George Baggerly.

Ersa is survived by her children, Paul Rae (Linda), David Rae (Kathleen), Warren Rae (Svetlana), Laurie Velardo (Bob) , Jackie Szabo, William Rae and Debbie Glasby (Leon).

She leaves a legacy of 119 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, each of whom carries her love of animals, music & nature. She was always singing her favorites around the house or pointing out things that fascinated her out the window. She lived each day with kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. She poured her love into every generation-raising her 10 children, a few grandchildren, and joyfully welcoming each great-grandchild with open arms and usually a homemade quilt. Her home was a haven of warmth, safety and laughter, where everyone felt seen, loved, and welcome.

A celebration of her life will be held in July to coincide with the Baggerly family reunion. The family will put out a notice of the exact date and location when it is scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to your local Foster care agency or humane society. Both of which were dear to her heart.
