Galen Ray Pate

Galen Ray Pate, 61, of Roanoke, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Theora Sigmon, and Virgie Pate. He was formerly employed by CMC supply. He is survived by his parents, Herman J. and Gladys S. Pate; daughter, Leslie Craighead and her husband Kevin; grandchildren, Trey and Shane Gibson; former spouse, Cathy Smawley; brother, James "Jay" Pate and his wife Judy; nephew, Jonathan Pate; and numerous, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral service will be held at Oakey's South Chapel at noon on Monday, September 12, 2011 with the Revs. David Codington and Richard Dickie Walters officiating, and interment will follow at the Vest Cemetery in Floyd. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piedmont Presbyterian Church, 8585 Callaway Road, Callaway VA 24067. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
