Gerald Reynolds Obituary

Mr. Gerald R. Reynolds, 92, of Meadows of Dan, Va., died Friday afternoon at his home. He was born February 8, 1917, in Patrick County to the late Grover Cleveland and Stella Shelor Reynolds. He served in the Army during WWII and retired from the City of Danville Electric Department after 34 years of service. Mr. Reynolds was also preceded in death by his first wife, Flora Belle LaPalme Reynolds; his second wife, Eloise West Reynolds; two sisters, Gaynelle Spangler and Alma Louise Reynolds; and a brother, Galen Reynolds. Surviving Mr. Reynolds is three sons, Albert and wife, Mercedes LaPalme, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Gerald Reynolds Jr., of Kernersville, N.C., and Grover C. and wife Patricia Reynolds, of North Garden, Va.; seven grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and a brother, Walter Reynolds, of Eden, N.C. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Clinton Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meadows of Dan Fire Department, P.O. Box 830, Meadows of Dan, Va. 24120 or to Vesta Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 238, Vesta, Va. 24177. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moody funeralservices.com.

Grover and Pat,

I know it is hard to say "good-bye" but you must feel good knowing the love and support you have given Mr. Reynolds. Even though I never meet your Dad, I feel close to you and your family through all of the prayers we had had at Mt. Olivet. Hope to see you soon, Claudia & Gloria
