Grant PLASKON Obituary
Grant was introduced to the game of football when he was only five years old, and went on to play in high school at Cave Spring High as linebacker winning a four year scholarship as a student athlete and graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.
His career began with WDBJ in news as a Videographer and ultimately he started his own business as a free lance Producer/Writer/Director/Photographer for local and national accounts over the past 20 years including PBS, ESPN, FOX, Virginia Tech Football, and the list goes on.
He earned several distinguished ADDY awards for his TV productions presented by Roanoke Chapter of The American Advertising Federation, a professional organization devoted entirely to the business of advertising in the areas of graphic design, marketing, TV and radio, photography, printing, web design and more.
Grant worked hard and played hard and his sense of humor had a philosophical edge. He loved the water, music, and time with his family and friends. Sunset was his favorite time of day. He is now basking in the Glory of Sunsets. Peace be with you Grant.
He is survived by his wife, Elisha Corbin Plaskon; his mother, Carol Pastors Plaskon; his sister, Paige Plaskon Nelson; his stepdaughter, Sarah Corbin; and his maternal grandmother, Katherine Neverline Pastors.
Grant was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Plaskon; paternal grandfather, Frank T. Plaskon; paternal grandmother, Frances T. Plaskon; and his maternal grandfather, Richard H. Pastors.
A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Lehman will officiate. The family will receive friends there at the church from 10 a.m. on Friday until the Mass, and a reception will follow the Mass at The Quarter Restaurant, 19 Salem Ave. SE, Roanoke, VA 24011 beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday.

My sincere condolences to the Plaskon family. I just received the news through the University of Richmond magazine. In college, Grant used to draw the posters for our band "The Plague." He was always very creative and fun to be around and was an honorary member of the band. I'm so sorry to hear the news of his passing. RIP Grant. May your creativity live on. Words cannot express the sadness I felt when I heard this sad news. I met Grant many years ago and saw him from year to year around town and he never hesitated to give me a huge hug each time and we shared what we'd both been doing since our last meeting.
